I thought I do this little profile on the Ghost of Spartan since this month will probably be dubbed the God of War month as we see the series draw the curtains. What makes Kratos tick? Well we can trace this back to the very first game in the series when David Jaffe came through the roof with this beast of a game. Undoubtedly it became one of the most brutal games to grace to the PS2 console then. We saw the nightmares which haunt him as he travel the seas; visions of him filling with blood lust and ultimately selling his soul to Ares, the God of War then. Crystal Dynamics, makers of the last three Tomb Raider games, in an attempt to revive the classic series, has over the weekend announced a new project in the Lara Croft canon called Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light. When we usually think of games based on movies or on comics, the general feeling is we would not touch it with a barge pole (at least in front of everyone). So I can be right to say that this game might just turn out to be another cash cow for the people trying to line their pockets. However if any of you saw the trailer when it first came out, you would have either said “Wow! That game is going to look amazing.” or “This should have been made a movie.” I was actually thinking both thoughts as well as you watched Optimus pull out a battle axe laced with energy. Read more…
War: what is it good for? Well, in the case of 2008’s FPS Battlefield: Bad Company, war presented the perfect opportunity for four expendable soldiers to abandon their official duties in favour of stealing gold from a foreign military. While on paper this makes for an intriguing shooter, Digital Illusions Creative Entertainment’s title lacked substance, remembered as a mediocre single player adventure with a somewhat underdeveloped multiplayer element. Eighteen months later, the Swedish developer has returned to blast the mighty Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 off its towering pedestal with high-calibre sequel Battlefield: Bad Company 2.

Having already played a couple of hours of the first Yazuka game back on PS2 I had an inkling of what to expect from this demo. I suspect if you went into it with no knowledge you may find Yakuza 3 to be completely insane. Bethesda Studios has proven they can run with the big guys after taking over the Fallout® Franchise. Now its time for them to prove they can keep things alive and running. With the new teaser video released on the PSN, things seem to be going all well in the Fallout® Universe.
Opening much like the Fallout® 3 teaser, (old 1950s generation music and a classic television) but as the camera pans out you begin to see what looks like Las Vegas’ Stratosphere. The music picks up and we see the scene of a robot in a lonely desert cleaning up the wasteland. As the scene stretches further, the brightly lit city of New Vegas runs across the scene. Then a soldier resembling the Hellghast in the ever popular Killzone series appears; standing on a cliff overlooking the energized city. Once again the famous quote from before is then used, talking about war and how it never changes.

Even as someone who isn’t really into Star Wars I enjoyed the demo of this game way back in 2008 when it was released. I was waiting for it to come down in price before committing and eventually I saw it on offer so I picked it up. Telling the story of Darth Vader’s apprentice and set before the original Star Wars movies, Force Unleashed tasks you with getting a handle on the Force and dishing out punishment to various enemies. In the unlikely event that you have been unsatisfied with the fantastic line-up of exclusive games so far, we have some good news. This Thursday Gametrailers will be unveiling another PS3 exclusive title and it’s also a sequel. Several games immeditely come to mind. Killzone 3, inFAMOUS 2, MotorStorm 3, Socom 4, Ape Escape, Sly Cooper, or perhaps Syphon Filter 5. One thing is for sure, I will be eagerly awaiting this announcement. What do you want to see?
